Kitchen

On 8/18 we let Eli open one of his birthday presents a little early... it was partly selfish, wanting him to play with it while we kept packing for vacation :-)

This is where Eli stuck a cup, pretending to get water,
the night before he got his kitchen.

Eli getting coffee and checking on the corn.

The unveiling of the kitchen.

Washing the Car

In preparation for vacation I washed and vacuumed the car and apparently Andrea and the boys watched from the window. When I came back inside Eli showed me what he had been up to.

Eli pouring water on the car.

Eli and his "blue brush". The brush that
I use on the car is, of course, blue.

Scrubbing away.

Here is some live action car washing!

Later that night Emmett was sacked out in a
funny position, it was the only way he would sleep.

Close up.

Hamper Fun

Here are some pictures of playing around the house and with the hamper.

Emmett on the playmat.

Eli found the hamper.

Eli covered by the hamper.

Mama in the hamper.

Both in the hamper.

Cute little Emmett.

Little bit of drool.

He LOVES his hands!

Finally a video of Emmett talking.

Eli's first Haircut!!!

Seven days before Eli's second birthday we decided it was time for his first haircut. It wasn't a full haircut, it was just a trim of the back and sides :-)

The setup.

For all you doubters.... See it WAS long enough to cut!!

Mama hard at work.

Elmo was the cornerstone of the successful haircut :-)

A satisfied customer.

This video is a compilation of before and after haircut videos. The last clip also shows how much energy Eli has and one of his favorite questions - "Whatcha doin'?"

How Big?

This video is Eli telling us how big he is. One day he was talking about Mama and Dada being big and when asked how big he was he responded "Just right."

Emmett Sleeping

This is a cute picture of Emmett sleeping.

Blue Ridge Parkway

The day after our trip to Murry's Mill we went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and had a BLAST!! It was such a fun day. We drove up through Blowing Rock, where I was at training this past February, and then went to Moses Cone, Julian Price, and drove south past Grandfather Mountain.

These pics are from Moses Cone:

Wood Ducks at Moses Cone.

The pond we hiked around looking up at Cone Manor.

Emmett and Mama hiking around the pond.

Water lilies in bloom.

These pics are from Julian Price:

We rented a row boat and right as we pushed off
two deer walked out of the woods and into the water.

Eli helping Dada "paddle" the boat.

Mama and the boys. Emmett slept the
entire time we were in the boat.

Eli standing in the water, he loved it.

The rest of the pics are from a hike we took from the Rough Ridge Overlook up to the Tanawha Trail.

Our first hike as a family of four.

A fun rock outcrop that Eli thought looked like pancakes.

I think this one looked like a sink facuet.

The Linn Cove Viaduct.

Dada and Eli.

Mama and Emmett.

Emmett sacked out and a beautiful bridge on the trail.

This is a video of Eli on the hike.
