The Lake - Tubing Day

The day after our trip to E-Town we had a long day on the lake. We had been eating lunch on the boat and then heading home before nap time, but we just couldn't pull ourselves off the lake this day. We took the Jet Ski again and this time we brought a tube as well. We spent the morning at Sandy Beach and then anchored near the dam and ate and hung out on the boat.

Grandpa and Emmett in the water, he loves the water!!!

Mama taking Dada for a ride.

This is me taking my mom for a tube ride! Everyone but Grandpa and the boys went for a ride at least once.

Andrea heading out....

Auntie Jill and Emmett on the boat.

While riding to the dam Emmett fell asleep holding onto Grandpa's finger.

Now he's really out!

Eli is actually asleep here... He fell asleep about the same time Emmett did, he just fell asleep sitting up :-)

After naps and lunch we got back in the water.

Riding a seahorse!!

We had a little fun with Grandma's beautiful hat :-)

The Lake - E-Town Day

On our third day we went to Elizabethtown, spent some time with Pops and saw Harry Potter VII Part 2!!! We picked Pops up in the morning and went to a local park, got come Chick-fil-a and then Andrea and I went to see Harry Potter. We have seen the last three or four in E-Town.... it became a silly tradition :-) After the movie we all went to Mexican for dinner and then dropped Pops off and headed back to the lake.

The Lake - Jet Ski

On our second day at The Lake we borrowed a friend's jet ski and spent the day playing with it and at Sandy Beach. Eli enjoyed crusin' on the Jet Ski. I was so proud of him for riding on it, and we rode and rode too!! Late that night Auntie Jill arrived as well!

Dada and Eli getting ready on the Jet Ski. Mama was holding her breath :-)

The wind in our hair!!! Eli lost his hat, but it
was salvaged by Mama on the pontoon.

Snugly with Grandma!! We tried to get out of the house early and back to the house before nap time... looks like we are pushing it here.

Kentucky Summer '11

In late July we were able to take a vacation to "The Lake" (Kentucky). We had a blast playing in the water and hanging out with Jill, Pops and my parents.

On our first day there we got some fishing supplies for Eli and took a boat ride to Sandy Beach.

Dada and Emmett in their shades!

Grandpa and Eli fishing with the cane pole.

Eli really liked fishing.... for a few minutes :-)

A redbreast sunfish that Andrea caught.

Yummy dinner!!!

Our garden inspired us to create a "fancy" meal and make it healthy at the same time. We were very successful. We bought a whole wheat pizza crust, added a sweet tomato basil sauce, cheese, grilled chicken, onion, and tomatoes and zucchini straight from our garden. We also had some wine we bought from the Biltmore House from our anniversary.

Artsie and all grown up!

Yummy!!

Our beautiful creation!!

Both boys loved it too!

Bike Trailer

Andrea used some of her birthday money to buy a bike trailer! She and the boys love it!! They cruise around the park and ride the bike to the pool some days!

The two boys ready for their first ride!

Garden Update

Well, it turns out our first garden adventure was very successful!! We learned a few lessons... like follow the recommended spacing on the seed packets and look for rattle snakes, but all and all we enjoyed our garden. Plus it was really productive!!! These pics are from early July.

Zucchini, cucumber & tomato's. Occasionally we waited too long to check (...due to fear, see this post) and the zucchini would get a little big...

Watermelon!!! Unfortunately we never got any watermelon to the table...

Lots of cantaloupe!!

Colorful...

and tasty!!!

Another neighbor...

July 4th weekend I was coming home pretty late and I was greeted by a very cool neighbor. I ran into this guy on the back deck!!! He was super cool! It is an Eastern Hercules Beetle, a member of the Rhinoceros beetle family. Apparently they are the largest beetles in America and he was as big as he looks!

The coloring was beautiful but the two large horns and two small horns were the best part!

You can also see the fine hairs around his body.

I put him into Eli's bug box and saved him for the boys to see the next morning. They were really impressed with him. When Mama and the boys let him go he burrowed into the ground.

Frow's Pool Time

Andrea and the boys have gone to the Renfrow's quite a few times this summer and some of those times they have all gone to their pool to play. I even got to go once! The boys LOVE playing with their cousins, and all little kids love the pool! They always have a ton of fun!

Train in the pool. If you look close you can see Emmett is squealing with joy and Eli is on the other side of his float pushing him around.

Two boys dry and ready to go.
