Sleeping Angels

Just some pics of the boys sleeping...

Emmett napping in our bed.

Eli napping at the far end of his bed.

Rub-a-dub-dub...

Two boys in a tub...
In late September Eli and Emmett took their first bath together. They can't really interact yet in the tub, but it was still fun. Every time Emmett would kick Eli he would turn around and say "Emmett, don't push me!!" He does this at other times too, I am sure it is just the start of this type of complaint :-)

Emmett is 4 months

These are Emmett's 4 month pictures...

Sleepy or hungry... hmm?

Who me?

Rolling around and going after toys.

Violins

In one of Eli's Elmo videos there is an episode on Violins and he loves it. He has even taught himself how to play the violin based off of the show :-)

5 Years!

On September 11 and 12, Andrea and I celebrated our 5th anniversary (actual date for five years was 9/17/10)!! Andrea's parents very graciously came to the house and watched Eli, and we took Emmett with us.

On Saturday, we drove to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. It was drizzling so we spent the afternoon in the house. We took the audio tour and really enjoyed it. I knew I would like the house but I thought the grounds would be cooler, but I was wrong. The house itself was VERY cool. Not only was the house amazing and a work of art but there were so many individual treasures within the house, it was overwhelming!

A gutter, Vanderbilt style!

One of the things that made the house so neat was all the little details throughout, both inside and out. Unfortunately, you cannot take pictures inside the house so there aren't any here :-)

Hanging out on one of the "porches".

We visited during the "Flower Carpet" and above
is the carpet viewed from the house.

After spending the afternoon in the house we decided to head to the hotel and look for dinner. We stayed in the Hilton and had an awesome dinner at Travinia, an Italian restaurant. It was a very fun day and even though the weather was not perfect it fit perfectly into our plans!!!

Really cool carving on the outside of the house.

Being silly.

Again the details... George Vanderbilt's initials and the family crest were throughout the exterior of the house.

We spent most of the second day at the Biltmore as well, they had a special where you could visit for two days for the price of one. We walked through the gardens and around one of the lakes and checked out some of the other sights on the Estate and then headed home. It was a great weekend and a wonderful way to celebrate our 5th anniversary!!

View from one of the trails.

Really neat carriage trail opposite the house.

View off to the left of the house looking over the gardens into Pisgah National Forest and the NC Mountains.

Diapees don't take a break for a fun weekend.

Early September Pics

These are just some fun pics from early Sept.

Drowsy, and sleeping, on the couch.

Brothers hanging out.

Emmett in the Bumbo.

Eli looking so big...

Hedge Trimmer

While we were on vacation, hanging out at the pool, a landscaping crew came by and trimmed the bushes around the house. They used a hedge trimmer and a rake to clean up. Eli studied their actions very hard and now has some new toys...

Big Boy Bed

The day after we got back from vacation we made some major changes in the house. Eli got a big boy bed and a new room. Shortly after that Emmett moved into the nursery. Eli has done great in his new bed! He stays in the bed, even at nap time, and has yet to get out without us being in the room. We did learn on the first night that the gap near the wall needed to be plugged; when we checked on him a few hours after falling asleep in the bed for the first time he was wedged into the crack :-) We also lined the floor with pillows, just in case....

Eli exploring his new bed.

He was very excited!

Emmett sleeping with his paci, a very rare thing...

A few days into sleeping in the new bed,
notice the added pillows.

Last Day...

On our last day of vacation we spent the morning in the pool, shopped a little bit and then drove home around dinnertime. It was a great vacation and very fun. With six kids all under 5 it was always lively, but it was a lot of fun. Hopefully we will be able to do it again sometime!!

Stealing the idea from the Renfrows we decided to bring white and khaki outfits and get some family pics at the beach. We then headed for some ice cream!!
