Belly Watch - Update

Two more weeks have passed which means Andrea and I have been to the OB again.  Everything is going well and on tract.  The baby has been moving like crazy and gets the hiccups almost everyday!  It is so neat to see and feel the baby move... maybe I can post a video and freak people out, think Alien.

A lot of people have been asking how Andrea is feeling.  She is still feeling good.  We have been blessed with a very smooth pregnancy!  Though, I think the heat maybe starting to get to her as she asked me to lower the AC twice today...

Durham Bulls

Yesterday Walter, Heather, Andrea and I went to a Durham Bulls game, the local minor league team here in Durham.  There was a slight rain delay but we had a good time.  It was only my second Bulls game, we hope to see some more pre-baby.  They are a lot of fun and you can't beat the price... cheaper than a movie, until you buy snacks!

The game is as much about hanging out as it is about baseball.  People watching is probably more fun than the baseball!  We saw a bunch of people from our church, spotted all the other pregnant women and pointed out all the babies.  Walter noted that you don't notice the babies and preggo's until you are pregnant, which is true. I then told him you don't notice all the breast feeding either until you know what to look for; Heather and I then pointed out a woman breast feeding and his reaction was priceless.  We also accidentally discovered another one of Walter's nicknames...

A small but very nice stadium.

An interesting observation from the game:  I think they are trying to appeal to the very large and rapidly growing hispanic population in North Carolina.
  • The game was sponsored by Univision.
  • Most of the between inning games had a guest announcer that spoke in both Spanish and English.
  • The third and fourth innings were announced over the PA in spanish.

32 Weeks

Yesterday we had another Dr's appointment.  They measured Andrea's belly and said she was a little small and she had lost weight since our last visit two weeks ago, so they suggested an ultrasound to check on the baby's weight/size.  We were not too worried because Andrea is small to begin with, our last appointment was right after vacation (oops vaca weight!!), and she was borderline on the low side of the scale.  We did the ultrasound and the baby's average size was that of a 33 week baby and the estimated weight is 4 lbs 11oz....

Painting the Nursery

Well, the nursery is now painted!!!  A few days ago Laura Churchill came over and motivated us to paint.  Andrea and I are not painters, you may know this.  The first time we painted inside our house Laura called us up and made us pick a date for her to come over and help us paint.  Well, that's pretty much how it happened this time.  We told Laura we would paint after vacation and sure enough, after vacation Laura emailed us some dates and made us pick one.

So, last Thursday night we went to Lowe's at 8:50, hoping that they were open until 10.  We got some water filters and then headed toward the paint.  We stopped in front of the massive wall-o-chips and "ding, ding, Attention Lowe's customers we are now closed.  Please bring your purchases up the the registers, we will open tomorrow at some designated time."  Crap!  Andrea is not a quick decision maker and we were supposed to paint the next day.  We rushed and picked "Homestead Resort Parlor Sage" (green) and "Sawyer White" (white).  The guy asked if we wanted flat, semi-gloss, gloss... sure flat.  So we got two gallons of flat, one green and one white.  Apparently, trim is supposed to be "base white" and semigloss; also, you cannot return paint that they mix...... but it's ok we now have a beautiful nursery.

Laura helped paint the walls last Friday and our other friends Laura Hoyle and Libby Scheffer came and helped paint trim on Tuesday!  We appreciate the help!!!

Did I mention I love painting....

Laura knows her paint, and was a great motivator.

Mr Miyagi would love the wrist action!

We must apologize to Laura H and Libby, there is no real proof that they helped....

Baby Showers - from Co-Workers

On Tuesday and Wednesday both Andrea and my co-workers threw us showers.  They were both very fun and our friends are so generous.  We have a good start toward equipping the nursery, and were also given a good start of diapers.  Apparently diapers are the main talk at baby showers and, funny enough, it is usually the guys that are talking about them....

California Vacation

Andrea and I recently took a vacation to California.  We were in Cali from May 23 through June 1.  The main purpose of the trip was to go to our friend Marie's wedding.  We were lucky enough to get lots of time off and made a "Babymoon" out of it.  Marie lives in Berkley and the wedding was just north of there in Sonoma County, so we are talking Central/Northern California.

Really....

We had so much fun.  We spent four days in San Francisco, three and a half days in Yosemite National Park, and two days in wine country.  We were so relaxed and carefree it was terrible entering the working world again.  I remember the day we got back Andrea said she had a huge list of things to do and then exclaimed that she didn't even think about lists or chores while on vacation!

We took a ton of pictures, 1,087 to be exact!  It will take a while to sort them but I will post more as soon as possible.

Andrea is such a trooper, she let me walk her all over San Francisco and she camped in Yosemite with lows at 32 degrees while 6 1/2 months pregnant.....

Now how did they know she would be there?
