Emmett's Second Day

Here are some more pics from the hospital. These are all from day 2 of Emmett's life. We loved Lake Norman Regional and enjoyed our time there.

Cute guy all swaddled up.

Mama showered and recovering.

The whole fam again.

I wanted to put this pic up to showcase my "new" Maine-iac shirt!! Long story but these shirts were only in circulation for students for one year and my old one is very holey!!! This was hiding in Pops' drawer and probably only worn a few times!!! My mom passed it on to me :-)

We had an impromptu pizza party picnic in the hospital
room with the Aunties and Cousins.

Me and the boys :-)

Emmett's Birthday!!!

As mentioned before Emmett Lee Gwinn arrived on May 19, 2010! Andrea was 13 days late and had to be induced. We did all we could to have Emmett spontaneously but unfortunately Andrea met her friend Pitocin again :-) Being the trooper she is, she did it with no pain meds again!!! Thankfully once she got on Pitocin labor was only 3 hours long. It was kind of weird after our last birth experience. Eli was born 31 hours after her water broke and it took place over two nights and he was born in the middle of the night. Emmett was born 6 hours after Andrea's water was broken and in the middle of the afternoon we had a baby.... With Eli we were exhausted and went straight to sleep, with Emmett it was kind of like... now what, we were fully awake and full of energy :-).

The last belly pic!

Such a cute baby boy!!!

Lazy 5 with Auntie Jill

Auntie Jill arrived on 5/15 to help us with a newborn in the house... of course, she arrived before Emmett did. We had fun hanging out with Jill in anticipation of Emmett's arrival. On 5/18 we all went to the Lazy 5 Ranch. This time we bought a bucket of food and of course had a great time. Andrea was scheduled to be induced the next morning.

These deer were cool. This male still has velvet on his antlers, but we saw one who's velvet was shedding.

Auntie Jill and Eli feeding the animals.

Super cute baby zebra and it's mama, with a random pig.

We got to see the baby zebra nursing from its mama, which was really fun. Eli still talks about the "zebra drinking milk."

"Leeli drivin'"

Eli, Mama and snack time.

Dada feeding the giraffe. Eli loved it.

It was a fun adventure before Emmett's arrival.

Imagination

Eli has started using his imagination and playing make believe; it's so fun! He picks up a bag and puts it on his shoulder and says he's going to the store, sometimes it's a diaper bag and sometimes it's a purse. He'll even tell you why he's going to the store, usually for groceries but most recently he's made a lot of trips to buy Doc food.

Andrea said the other day he put a toy man and his dog in a truck and said they were going to pick blueberries. He got this idea because we have a blueberry bush in the front yard.

On 5/13, he put both the bear and the moose on the car
and pushed them around the living room.

Eli and his passengers.

Strawberry Pickin'

On 5/13, 41 weeks, we went to a local pick your own strawberry farm. It may be the first time Andrea or I have ever picked strawberries, or at least that we can remember. We had a TON of fun. We had perfect weather, the strawberries were awesome and we got to hear quail calling from adjacent fields. Again, Eli was worried about being tickled, this time by golf carts.

Eli and Mama headed to the patch.

Only pick the red ones...

"Dada eat it"

"Lili eat it" (He pronounces Eli more like Li-Li)
Eli loved the strawberries and stayed cleaner than we thought he would.

We think he enjoyed putting the strawberries in the bucket more than eating them!

But he did eat a few! They were super sweet and juicy, we could definitely tell the difference between farm fresh and store bought.

We'll definitely do this again in the years to come!

Belly Pics

These pics are from 5/2 and 5/9. We bought these dresses for a wedding and showers when Andrea was pregnant with Eli. We didn't think she was going to be able to wear them this time due to the weather, but she got a chance to wear both of them.

39 weeks 3 days

40 weeks 3 days... 3 days past due! :-)

Kayak Trip

On May 1 we decided we needed to get in a few last adventures before we had a newborn again. All I can say is my wife is stinking awesome!! Five days before her due date she got into a kayak and cruised around Lake Norman :-) It was an awesome trip. It was Eli's first kayak trip, but he is a seasoned canoeist so he did great!! We saw Mallards, Great Blue Herons, turtles, and gawked at lots of fancy houses. We also had fun thinking about escape plans and what if's in case Andrea went into labor in the boat :-)

Eli and Dada ready to go out.

Eli, Mama and the boats after our return.

Ready to go again!! Hopefully soon!

April wrap up

These are just some fun pics from the end of April.

Eli sporting Dada's UMaine hat.

Eli clinging on for dear life as he is worried that the Bobcat is going to tickle him. That is one of his funny traits, anything that he thinks is going to "get" him, he says it is going to "tickle" him. However, on other occasions he will encourage you to chase him and tickle him :-)

One night we had our small group at the new church building to do some work and read the Bible. We all had dinner in the lobby... don't judge, there's milk and apple sauce in the picture too!

Here Eli is painting Mother's Day cards for the grandma's.
Picking out his colors.

He loves to paint, he doesn't say paint, but when asked
if he wants to paint he will say "Yeah, colors."

Putting on the final touches.

LANO Trail Hike

These pictures are from a hike that we took on 4/17/10, in the park. Showing nature to Eli is so much fun! We have seen some pretty fun stuff and Eli enjoys exploring. We haven't been on any hikes since Emmett arrived, but they will resume soon!!!
